Science Direct uses a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to provide a persistent link for its articles.

In addition to the Library proxy prefix, another URL has to be added to the DOI in order to provide access.

To create persistent links to articles in ScienceDirect, follow these steps:

  • Select the article from the result list by clicking on the title of the article

  • Find the DOI at the top of the page on the left. It will look something like this: 10.1016/S0167-2681(02)00178-6
Make sure you omit the "doi:" before the number.

The persistent link you provide will have the following format:

http://libproxy.smu.edu.sg/login?url=         http://dx.doi.org/         10.1016/S0167-2681(02)00178-6
