You will need to seek copyright clearance or pay the copyright fees when distributing any material in class, even if the material is copied within the copying limit of 1 article, 1 chapter or 10% (non-chapters). In the case of materials whose copyright is owned by publishers respresented by copyright licensing and Administration Society of Singapore Ltd (CLASS), the copyright fee is paid in advance by SMU for all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (by coursework). Hence, faculty may distribute CLASS materials within copying limit without further payment. Please contact the library for further clarification if necessary.
