In a draft record, go to 'Manage Identifiers' and select 'Reserve DOI' to create an inactive DOI. This DOI remains inactive until you publish the record in SMU RDR, so it won’t be publicly accessible.

You can include this reserved DOI in a paper or share it with a publisher without publishing the dataset. When ready, simply publish the record to activate the DOI and make your data available.
