Q. How do I access The Economist? Can I access via The Economist mobile app?

Access via browser:

You can access The Economist from your browser by going to https://www.economist.com directly.

1. On the main page, click "Log In" on top right hand corner.
2. Enter your SMU email address in full.
3. If your email address is correct, the password box should disappear.
4. Enter your SMU login credential.
5. Once authentication is completed, you will be able to read the article.

Access via mobile app:

Starting from September 2024, you will be able to download The Economist mobile app and read articles on the go.
Scan the QR code below or click App Store for IOS devices, Play Store for Android.

Once the app is downloaded, login using the following steps:

1. Launch mobile app and click on the gear icon on top right corner.
2. Click "Log In" on top right corner.
3. Click "Continue" to proceed.

4. Enter your full SMU email address only (Do not use Login in with SSO).
5. The system will recognize your email address, pick your account and proceed.
6. Once authentication is completed, you will see "Log out" on top right-hand corner.

Note: Having issue with loading articles or video on the move? Make sure your "Wi-Fi and mobile data" is selected in "Background downloads“ (mobile data charges applies).
