Use the database NewspaperSG provided by the National Library Board.

  • Use Advanced Search
  • Enter your keywords
  • Select the Newspaper, e.g. The Straits Times
  • Select the Date Range

The Straits Times is searchable in Newspapers.sg from 1845-2017.

Most of the articles before 1990 can be read online (with exceptions for articles that SPH does not have the copyright for).
Articles from 1990 onwards may require that you head to a multimedia station in NLB libraries.
The pages in NewsspaperSG are watermarked. For a clean copy, go to the National Library and print from the microfilm reels.

Factiva has articles from The Straits Times from 1 July 1989 to present.
